Power of Public Search

Power of Public Search

If you’ve ever owned a business, you know how challenging it can be to collect delinquent payments. While your debtor may have left their contact information, it often turns out that they have disappeared since the due date.

CMCS is an experienced debt collection agency that can help creditors recover overdue payments. Our debt recovery specialists are trained in using public searches and records to find the debtors and their location.

Public record searches allow debt collectors to acquire information that may not be readily available to the public. The more information, the more likely you are to receive the money owed to you. A debtor’s name, address, social security number and other personal information enables CMCS to locate your debtors and recover your money quickly and efficiently.

Some of the ways CMCS uses public searches to find people include:

Information provided

Debtors, themselves, can be one of best sources of information. Skip tracing is the practice of locating individuals by using the information debtors provide with their credit application. The borrower’s name, address, telephone number, social security number, and place of employment are all sources of information that can be helpful to help collect your money. With that information, CMCS can use skip tracing to search for updated addresses, phone numbers, and places of employment.

Also, if your debtor has moved, someone listed on the application, such as employer, bank, family members, and credit references, may be able to verify the correct contact information.

Internet Searches

You can find just about anything on the Internet. Everything uploaded World Wide Web becomes a public record. CMCS can use Internet searches to gather personal information about a debtor.

Data Aggregators

Data aggregators gather and sell information about consumers from public records, surveys, demographic data, and purchase data. While some services are offered for free, some charge a fee to access millions of current records. Using a data aggregator, CMCS may easily be able to find a debtor’s new address and phone number.

Social Security Verification

Social Security Verification is a free online service that provides debt collectors with the issued date in which State and if they individual has been reported as deceased. It will also furnish the names and SSNs of the debtor’s family, which can be used to help locate them.

Trace Detail

Trace detail can be used to provide a debtor’s phone numbers, cell phones, emails, Internet domains, assets, family, neighbors, associates, and housemates. This is enough information to start calling family, friends, and relatives to find their current address and any other information that may help contact them. However, to use this feature, the debt collection agency must have access to the individual’s SSN.

Social Media

In this 21st century, people have a habit of posting everything they do on social media, from what they ate for breakfast to their shiny new jewelry. CMCS can use social networking platforms to see if a debtor has posted about their new location or any assets that can be used for debt collection. Unless their privacy settings are high, this is an easy and free way to pursue collection.

If you are having issues locating a debtor, there are options and strategies that can be explored to help you get the money owed to you.  Here at CMCS, we tailor our collections services to meet your specific needs to find a solution that works best for you.
